Red Dragon Taekwondo - Discussion forum > Marking Criteria for Gradings?

As I am a fairly new student to Red Dragon TKD, I personally do not 100% understand what is expected of me at a grading. The requirements are outlined in Forms and Self Defences as such but the kicks and sparring techniques, I believe have not been fully outlined. Is there a possible marking criteria or something alike that can be posted, to help students grasp a better understanding of what we should know prior to gradings? I believe this would also help us acknowledge whether or not we are ready to grade yet. Thanks :)

Well Asha, since you are going for high yellow, this is just what I remember you had to be able to do (please anyone correct me if I am wrong:

    - White and Yellow Belt Forms
    - Yellow Belt Self Defences
    - Axe, Front Snap, Side, Roundhouse, Skipping Side and Skipping Roundhouse kicks
    - Low, In to out Middle, Out to in Middle, High and Double Knifehand blocks
    - These blocks combined with attacks such as Straight punch in forward stance, Side of neck attack etc.
    - Free sparring

Well that's pretty much all I remember, I hope you out Asha! Remember guys, correct me if I forgot something or if I am wrong.

    Hey Asha,

Job done, to you and all students, I hope this stimulates alot of discussion about grading preparation.

I am also pleased Asha asked as it's something I take for granted and I do forget this is something you all do not necessarily know or understand.

    Now go get ready! ;-)

Great suggestion Asha, I totally agree with you as I am a fairly new student as well and it would be really helpful if we were informed on what we must know for the grading.
