Red Dragon Taekwondo - Discussion forum > Why did you (or your Child) initially choose Red Dragon Taekwondo to train with?

We are trying to get opinions from past and existing students about what makes Red Dragon Taekwondo Unique or Special.

I am interested in finding out:
    1. Did did you seek to do Martial Arts to begin with?
    2. What brought you to our club to begin with?
    3. What areas did you want to improve on that you saw the Club could help with?
    4. What differentiated Red Dragon from other Martial Arts Clubs?

Please take a few moments to respond to these questions.

    Thanks

    John

    1. Martial arts has always been a passion of mine, not just for fitness and self defence but beacuse i find it amazing the things that our bodies are capable of doing after training hard.
    2. Location, was 4 minutes walk from my house, plus had done other martial arts in the hall before.
    3. I wanted to improve on flexability, speed and variety in my kicks- all of which RDTKD has helped me with
    4. Red Dragon is different from other martial arts and TKD clubs beacuse it is adaptive, we dont just focus on traditional TKD or even the sport style. There is alot of variety and versatility in the things we are taught. Other styles leave you craving more whilst if you have a question wether TKD orientated or not they will endeavour to help you find an answer.

Please take a few moments to respond to these questions.

    1) Yeah, I did seek martial arts in the first place. After watching a lot of Cantonese old style kung fu movies, I wanted to be able to defend myself badly and for my Saturdays to have purposes.
2)I could easily walk cross the road from my house to the gym. Plus by looking at some photos and stuff, it seemed pretty legit, not some mcdojang.
3)To be able to defend myself against bullies as when I joined, I was going into high school. Also to become more flexible and gain some muscle strength.
4)Well it had a master (you) that actually enjoyed teaching the class and participated with the class. I've seen other taekwondos where the master just sits in the office and doesn't do anything, let's the instructors do the job for him. I also liked how cheap the prices were for pretty much everything, some of my mates do martial arts and they charge 300 bucks a month, whether you go or not! I saw the smiles on everyone's faces and they looked like they could be good friends. The main thing is that you don't teach "bullshido" like many other martial arts schools out there, this is one of the first one I have seen that has a balance between traditional and sport, and is actually practical in real life.

Well that's it pretty much! :D

i would love to tell my master john tsoutis why i picked taekwondo as a sport . First off for my whole life i have been trying to find a sport and the one i have found is red dragon taekwondo. It has taught me plenty of skills and i have made many friends i hope that more people enquire so sir will have to teach and more to train and hopefully not disipline.I have been trying hard in taekwondo for the weekly prize they hand out on saturday this medal definetly pushes kids harder. When I first started red dragon taekwondo i knew my future was going to change and it has i feel stronger and much more mature.last of all i am hoping to get in on a tournament a sparring tournament.i wish the was more sparring in the class so i can get to my full potential .this is from high yellow belt student danny diquattro.and more games that would be great too.

well the reason i chose red dragon taekwondo, is because throughout my life i have been choosing different sports but never sticking to them, things like soccer, football, basketball. and the reason i didnt stick with these sports is because its not something i could adapt to and have a passion for. in the beggining of this year 2012, george boutros had told me at school all about rdtkd and just by what he told me i was amazed, i then searched up on youtube about tkd and it inspired me, and rdtkd has inspired me so much, it has brought me to where i am now. i have sparred a number of people, made some new friends, broke some of my personal records, and today i have competed in the state championships.
